We have made every effort to make our site as accessible and easy to use for everyone, no matter what browser you choose to use, and whether or not you have any disabilities. The following page covers some of the things we have done.
At the start of every page there is a short menu, visible to screen readers and users with style sheets disabled, that allows you to jump directly to some key areas and pages on the site. Each of these also has an access key associated with it. The same menu appears on all the pages of this site.
Sighted users who use the keyboard to navigate will also see these links appear on screen when using the Tab key to navigate through the page.
Access keys are keyboard shortcuts that replace the need to use the mouse for navigation in browsers that support them. In Internet Explorer on Windows, you can press ALT + an access key; on Macintosh, you can press Control + an access key. Once selected, press Enter to activate the link.
The following access keys are available throughout the website:
1: Jump to the website home page
S: Skip navigation and jump straight to the page content
0: Jump to accessibility page
3: Jump to site map
8: Jump to terms and conditions
9: Jump to contact us
You may override the font sizes used on this site through your browser. Check you browser for instructions, normally CTRL+ and CTRL- will work but browsers may differ.
This site uses cascading style sheets to control its visual layout so if you wish to override the site's font settings, you can import your own style sheet. The site will work with style sheets disabled.
The majority of images used in this site include alt text. Purely decorative graphics include empty alt text. Image replacement has been used but should appear as text to a screen reader. Background images have been used for some decorative elements.
The site uses an additional stylesheet to hide the header, navigation and footer when the page is printed. This means that only the page content should appear.
This site does not currently use tables. Layout is controlled by stylesheets.
All forms follow a logical tab sequence and labels are associated with fields using HTML label tags.
Javascript is used on the website to control the drop down menus, the home page carousel and newsticker as well as validating form entries. You can still use the site with Java script switched off.
The site has been tested using the following browsers: Internet Explorer 7 and 8, Firefox 3.6, and Safar 1.3i. If you are using a different browser and encounter a problem then please let us know by email at group@edrington.co.uk with a description, and screenshot if possible. You help is much appreciated.
This site has been written to be valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional. It has been checked using Macromedia Dreamweaver validation tools as well as the validation checking provided by the W3C. Every effort has been made to check that the pages are correctly formed to meet the required standards.
This site does not validate correctly due to the use of the underscore hack. This has been used as certain pages require a minimum height to ensure the navigation is displayed correctly in Internet Explorer.
If you have any questions or feedback regarding the accessibility of this site, or if you experience any problems, please let us know by email at group@edrington.co.uk or phone +44 (0)1738 440000. We appreciate your help in ensuring that our site is as accessible as possible.
